A prominent Tucson neurosurgeon will speak on the subject of “Spinal Health” for the April wellness lecture at the Arizona Senior Academy on Wednesday (April 13). The lecture begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Great Room of the ASA Building, 13715 E. Langtry Lane.
The speaker, Dr. Ryan M. Kretzer, is associated with Western Neurosugery Ltd., located adjacent to St. Joseph’s Hospital. A graduate of John Hopkins University with a BS degree in chemistry, he received his MD degree from the John Hopkins School of Medicine, where he served as a faculty member for a time in advanced spinal surgery techniques. He completed a Spinal Biomechanics Research Fellowship at the Orthopaedic Spinal Research Laboratory at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Towson, MD.
Dr. Kretzer specializes in minimally invasive and complete spine surgery, including degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, nerve root compression, adult degenerative deformity and spinal oncology.
He is founding partner of Neuraxis Technologies LLC, an early stage medical device research and intellectual property development company.
Before joining the staff at Western Neurosurgery in Tucson, he served for two years as a Neurosurgical Medical Officer in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health of the US Food & Drug Administration. Dr. Kretzer is an inventor on several U.S. and international patents pending for spinal devices and has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. – – –
