Do you know the latest estate planning and charitable giving options? With changing legal requirements, it is important to be up-to-date on how best to make charitable gifts within the context of your estate planning.
Mary Louise Luna, director of Gift Planning with the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, will provide an overview of the issues involved in a talk in the Arizona Senior Academy Great Room Tuesday (Dec. 6) from 2:00-3:00 p.m..
Luna will be joined by Steve Wagner, a partner at the legal firm of Fletcher Struse Fickbohm & Wagner PLC. His areas of expertise are in estate planning, trust administration, and estate, trust, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxation. Wagner is both an attorney and CPA and member of the Advisory Board of the Community Foundation.
The ASA has set up a fund in the Community Foundation to honor Henry and Phyllis Koffler. The Koffler Hall Fund will be used to enhance existing performance space in the Great Room and/or to build a new auditorium and concert hall. It also will create a permanent endowment for ASA programming.
Luna works primarily with professional advisors, assisting them with the philanthropic portions of their clients’ estates, and assisting nonprofit organizations in their work with prospective planned gift donors. She has more than 20 years of planned giving, leadership and fundraising experience. Most recently, she served as Planned Giving Officer for Carondelet Foundation at Carondelet Health Network for almost 18 years.
The Community Foundation provides a number of options to potential donors wishing to contribute to the Koffler Hall Fund, including the following: cash contributions, donation of stock, donation or real estate, IRA or 401K rollovers, charitable gift annuities and testamentary gifts.
The information presented will be general and applicable to a variety of charitable causes. Luna will be available after her talk for short one-on-one meetings with individuals interested in these giving options. Please call Kathie Van Brunt, ASA administrator, at 647-0980 to set an appointment.
