The Arizona Senior Academy presents another international performer in the Academy’s Great Room on Tuesday (Feb. 17). Concert pianist Geraldine Ong, native of Malaysia, will perform her program “Late Masterworks” at 11:30 a.m.
Her program will open with the “Sonata in A Major” by Franz Schubert. The second half will contain two works by Sergei Rachmaninoff – the “Prelude in D Major” and “Variations on a Theme of Corelli.”
Ong is Assistant Professor of Applied and Collaborative Piano at Valley City State University in North Dakota. She has concertized throughout the US, including a debut at the Kennedy Center, and will tour China this summer with clarinetist Cecilia Kang with stops at Shanghai and Shenyang Conservatories of Music.
Her early studies were in Seremban, but she quickly transferred to the United States for serious studies of the piano. She earned a Master’s Degree from Northwestern University and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Houston.
