Expect the unexpected in an exhilarating program of acoustic music as Woven Oak Trio takes the stage at the Arizona Senior Academy on Tuesday (Jan. 19) at 11:30 a.m.
Two-time Arizona State Grand Fiddling Champion Matt Rolland teams up with guitarist extraordinaire Ryan David Green and renowned bassist Ryan Alfred to crisscross a wide array of genres including rock, jazz, bluegrass, and world music.
Matt Rolland plays fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. He tours the country with Run Boy Run, winner of the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festival competition and twice featured on NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion.” Matt also teaches at the Rolland Fiddle Camp in southern Colorado and loves old-time, Celtic, and progressive fiddling styles.
Ryan David Green started playing guitar at age 12, and went on to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has twice been named “Best Guitarist” in the Tucson Area Music Awards, and performs with Cameron Hood in their nationally touring band, Ryanhood. Ryan also appears with Arizona Folk Ensemble and The Great Collision.
Ryan Alfred plays upright bass in the Tucson-based Americana, Tex-Mex, indie rock band Calexico, touring nationally and internationally. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, he is the owner/audio engineer of Super Pro Studios in Tucson. When not touring with Calexico, Ryan performs regularly with Katherine Byrnes as Sweet Ghosts.
