The Arizona Senior Academy celebrates the vocal music of Richard Strauss and his contemporaries with a concert by The Strauss Divas on Tuesday (June 27) at 11:30 a.m.

Sopranos Dianne Iauco, Mary Paul, and Amy Williams will be joined by pianist Bonnie Bird to sing art songs of Strauss as well as arias, duets and trios from operas by Strauss, Wagner and Korngold. Opera selections come from Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, Arabella and Der Rosenkavalier, Wagner’s Tannhauser, and Korngold’s Die Tote Stadt.

Dianne Iauco’s career has included the opportunity to sing opposite Luciano Pavarotti as well as performing as principal artist with New York City Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera and other regional companies. She is married to basso Arizeder Urreiztieta and resides here in Tucson.

Mary Paul has performed major roles in the operas of Mozart, Verdi, Donizetti and Richard Strauss with many regional opera companies across the U.S. She maintains a private voice studio in Tucson, where she lives with her husband, baritone Lawrence Alexander and their family.

Amy Street Williams has been singing as a chorister and in comprimario roles with the Arizona Opera Company for the past 15 seasons. She has also sung featured roles in Lehar’s The Merry Widow and Puccini’s Suor Angelica with the Southern Arizona Opera Company. Williams currently studies voice with Lawrence Alexander and coaching with Bonnie Bird.

Bonnie Bird received her master’s degree in accompanying and voice from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and has had an international career. She is currently a coach/accompanist in the Fred Fox School of Music at the University of Arizona.
