“Hope, Faith, Love, Life” is the theme of a joint recital by sopranos Kelsey K. Rogers and Kerry Lerew to be presented on Tuesday (June 30) at 11:30 a.m. at the Arizona Senior Academy.  They will be accompanied by Brent Rogers, who has appeared at the Academy in recent years as director of the University of Arizona’s Collegium Musicum choral group.

Featuring an eclectic program of duets, arias, art songs and Broadway tunes, the concert will be framed by duets, opening with “The Lord is my Strength,” from Handel’s Israel in Egypt, and closing with “For Good,” from the Broadway show Wicked.

Between those selections, the sopranos will alternately perform solos by Hahn, Bizet, Mozart, Grieg, Libby Larsen, Humperdinck, Massenet, Andrew Lloyd Weber (Phantom of the Opera), and Harvey Schmidt (The Fantasticks).

Kelsey K. Rogers earned her master’s degree in vocal performance at the University of Arizona, and currently maintains a private voice and Let’s Play Music studio.

Kerry Lerew received her master’s degree in vocal performance from Lee University in Cleveland, TN, and currently maintains a private voice studio as well as through the Allegro School of Music.

Brent Rogers is completing his doctoral studies in choral conducting at the University of Arizona, having received his master’s in choral conducting from Brigham Young University.  A talented pianist as well, he regularly accompanies choirs and soloists, including his wife, Kelsey.
