They’re back! Acclaimed violinist Steven Moeckel and pianist Paula Fan, performing as Duo Amabile, return to the Arizona Senior Academy on Tuesday (Nov. 10) at 11:30 a.m.
Performances by this duo, including their last visit to Academy Village a year ago, have been especially compelling. The Costa Rica News reported “refined musical sensitivity and impressive technical resolve…artistic and equally exquisite…agile and beautiful interpretations…”
Last year the duo made a performance tour of China. Jointly they have recorded three musical albums and one containing musical tales for children. At Tuesday’s ASA recital they will be performing music by Brahms, Wieniawski, and Bloch.
Fan is a Senior Fellow at UAs Confluence Center for Creative Inquiry. She regularly transforms the UA Student Union Bookstore into an old fashioned salon with guest artists and a musical dialogue, playing her 1901 Steinway grand piano.
Fan has toured extensively as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative artist on five continents and has recorded seventeen albums. She is also a Regents Professor Emerita at UA and plays piano for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra.
Moeckel is concertmaster for the Phoenix Symphony and formerly for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. He has delighted concertgoers worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician.
