Two acclaimed musicians, violinist Steven Moeckel and pianist Paula Fan, return to the Arizona Senior Academy for a performance on Tuesday (Sept. 23).
Fan is a Senior Fellow at the University of Arizona’s Confluence Center for Creative Inquiry, where she will make six interdisciplinary presentations this year. As a pianist, Fan has toured extensively as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative artist on five continents and has recorded 17 albums. She is also a Regents Professor Emerita at UA and plays piano for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra.
Moeckel is concertmaster for the Phoenix Symphony and formerly for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. He has delighted concertgoers worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician.
Performances by this duo have been especially compelling. The Costa Rica News reported “Refined musical sensitivity and impressive technical resolve…artistic and equally exquisite…agile and beautiful interpretations…” The duo is currently planning a performance tour in China and will be performing locally in a St. Phillips In the Hills concert series. Jointly they have recorded three music albums and a fourth containing musical tales for children.
At their ASA recital they will be performing music by Bach, Corigliano and/or Kreisler.
ASA programs are offered at no charge to the public, but contributions are welcome. Reservations for this concert are highly recommended by calling 647-0980 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
